In the bathrooms of restaurants, bars and malls, hand dryers are apparently a comfortable and handy solution to guarantee the best level of hygiene and safety. Actually, it might be wrong: we will tell you why in the following lines.
Each one of us has experienced a hand dryer in a public bathroom: a valid alternative to napkins, since it is cheaper and eco-friendlier. You have to be careful, however, because despite what you might think, these solutions are not sanitary at all: on the contrary, they are able to create a germ bomb, diffusing viruses and bacteria through the particularly powerful flow of air they direct towards the dirty hands. So, although you do not touch anything thanks to these devices, you have to be pay some attention anyways. We are always on the alert when we are in a public bathroom, because when we need to open the bathroom’s door, when we flush the toilet, when we open the faucet or take the soap, we touch surfaces that can be breeding-ground for germs.
Also hand towels, as well as the knobs of the faucets and the toilet flushing buttons have been removed and replaced with devices which do not need to be pressed to work and are based on a photocell: the same as hand dryers. But why do these tools risk to spread viruses? The fact is that those who do not wash their hands, end up jeopardizing the health of those who wash them.
Viruses spread in the air and also the most recent devices are not safe. The Airblade is an example: even though it is a lot more effective than the predecessors thanks to a flow of hot air that can reach 100 kilometers per hour of speed, it can jeopardize the health of the users. The concept is simple: the more powerful the air, the easier it is for viruses to be diffused in the air, where they do not lose their viral power.
